"Today, we launched the 2025 Spring Festival, the Chinese Lunar Year, a long-standing tradition in the city that symbolizes renewal unity and prosperity in sisterhood with the Baguio-Filipino Chinese community but also reinforces the bonds of friendship and cooperation that flourished in Baguio for generation," said Mayor Benjamin Magalong.
"Once again in this occasion, the beautiful and excellent relationship between the city and the Filipino-Chinese community was shown towards unity for the development of the city," businessman Peter Ng, chairperson of the Spring Festival 2025 celebration, added.
Among the activities for the Spring Festival were a media fellowship night on Jan. 22, barangay gift-giving on Jan. 24, and Little Chinatown showcase on Jan. 26 on Session Road.
The colorful grand parade will be held on Jan. 29 at 3 p.m. Classes here were suspended that day to enable students to watch the event.
Ng said after the first Spring Festival was launched in 1998 and immediately institutionalized in 1999 through an ordinance, the Filipino-Chinese community had more unity to support city government projects and programs for their development, tourism, and economic growth.
