3 dead as pickup truck plunges into ravine in Benguet

ITOGON, Benguet – Three persons were killed and another was injured when a pickup truck plunged into a 100-meter deep ravine in Barangay Ucab here on Jan. 20.

Charles Oplas, 21, died on the spot, while Jefferson Oplas, 29, driver, and Ruvelyn Agapinan, were taken to a hospital where they were declared dead.

Another passenger, Luisito Bacoco, 14, was injured and also taken to a hospital.

Investigation said Jefferson lost control of the vehicle and rammed a concrete barrier and plunged into the ravine.

The victims, all residents of Barangay Loacan, Itogon, were on their way to Baguio City when they figured in the accident.

Police are conducting follow-up investigation.
