Cordillera logs 41 fireworks-related, 1 stray bullet injuries


BAGUIO CITY – The Department of Health-Cordillera has recorded 41 fireworks-related and one stray bullet injuries during the holiday season.

The province of Abra has the highest number of cases with nine, followed by Baguio City with eight, eight in Kalinga, seven in Benguet, four each in Apayao and Mountain Province, and one in Ifugao.

Victims were four to 84-years-old. No death was reported.

Majority of injured were males with 32. Eleven sustained eye injuries, 26 had blast and burn injuries without amputation, three had blast and burn injury with amputation, and one had multiple injuries. 

The stray bullet victim was a 16-year-old female from Kalinga.
