Rainy weather will prevail across most parts of the country on Thursday, Jan. 2, due to three weather systems, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
In its weather forecast, PAGASA stated that the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) is affecting Visayas, Mindanao, and Palawan.
The shear line is impacting the eastern sections of Northern and Central Luzon, while the northeast monsoon, or “amihan,” is affecting the rest of Northern Luzon.
PAGASA reported that the ITCZ will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms to Visayas, Mindanao, Romblon, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, and Masbate.
Cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms are expected in the rest of the Bicol Region, Quezon, Marinduque, Aurora, Isabela, Quirino, and Cagayan due to the shear line.
Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by the shear line, according to PAGASA.
The “amihan” will bring cloudy skies with rain to the Cordillera Administrative Region, the rest of Cagayan Valley, and Ilocos Norte.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains are also expected in the rest of the Ilocos Region due to the northeast monsoon.
PAGASA warned that flash floods or landslides may occur in these areas due to moderate to heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.
