DMW: Over 86,000 Pinoy migrant workers, dependents served at OFW Hospital in Pampanga

More than 86,000 Filipino migrant workers and their dependents have been served at the OFW Hospital in San Fernando City, Pampanga in 2024.

Ralph Julius Mendoza, chief of the OFW Hospital Medical Center, said those provided with urgent medical care include 41,282 outpatients, and 523 inpatients.

The other 41,855 recorded patients, he said, availed various medical services, including radiology, respiratory, cardiology, and laboratory services.

“This a testament to the continuing efforts of the government in bringing medical care and health services to Filipino migrant workers,” said Mendoza.

He said the OFW Hospital also operates its own pharmacy which provided medications and drugs required in the medical management of the patients.

It also established packages for Pre-Employment Medical Examination for would-be OFWs, and the Medical Assistance and Medical Repatriation Program for repatriated OFWs.

The OFW Hospital was inaugurated in 2022 as the first and only medical institution in the Philippines that provides comprehensive medical services to OFWs and their dependents.

In December last year, it opened an expansion of its available services by providing hemodialysis and cancer care units for OFWs and their qualified dependents with chronic kidney disease and cancer.

The OFW Hospital envisions elevating its 50-bed capacity hospital into a premier tertiary center that offers highly specialized diagnostic and therapeutic services tailored to the unique needs of migrant workers.

The management is also aiming to be licensed as a Medical Facility for Overseas Workers and Seafarers and to establish its 24/7 OFW Hospital Operation Center for Medical Repatriation Program.
