Woman shot dead by neighbor for spreading rumors

BACOLOD CITY – A 40-year-old woman was shot dead by her neighbor for allegedly spreading rumors in Barangay Vista Alegre here on Monday, Jan. 13.

Police Capt. Dax Santillan, head of Police Station 7, said the victim Jenelyn sustained bullet wounds in her back from an improvised firearm. 

She was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead the following day, Jan. 14.

He said the victim and the suspect started to figure in altercations last year. 

Santillan refused to disclose specific details about the rumors pending the filing of criminal charges.

The suspect fled and the subject of a manhunt.
