Widow stabbed to death over P13,000 debt

AGUILAR, Pangasinan – A 72-year-old widow was allegedly stabbed to death during a heated argument with a man over a P13,000 debt in Barangay Panacol here on Wednesday night, Jan. 15.

Police identified the victim as Lydia Melendez Soriano.

Investigation said a witness, Agnes de Guzman, 33, heard the victim and the suspect, Ron-Ron Almonte Veloria, of Barangay San Gabriel, Bayambang, Pangasinan arguing over Veloria's debt to Soriano.

De Guzman returned to the house of the victim and saw her bloodied and lying on the ground and the suspect fleeing onboard a tricycle.

The victim sustained multiple stab wounds and taken to a hospital where she was declared dead.

The kitchen knife used by the suspect was recovered at the crime scene.

Police are conducting a manhunt against the suspect who faces appropriate cases.
