Several online personalities and travel experts have been encouraging people to explore hotel coffee shops and bars instead of frequenting the usual cafes or bars. They argue that while the cost is comparable, the experience and service offered by hotels elevate the experience significantly. To see if this holds true, Style Weekend visited the newly opened Solaire Resort North.
Inside Cafe Mangrove
Aside from a good cup of coffee, ambiance and aesthetics are what draw us to a café—and Solaire North delivers on both fronts. Upon entering, you’re greeted by a massive indoor art installation in the lobby. Named “The Mangrove,” this stunning glass sculpture is the creation of American glass artist Nikolas Weinstein. Known for his large-scale architectural sculptures, Weinstein’s works are featured across Europe, North America, and Asia. This installation offers a perfect backdrop for an OOTD or a keepsake photo.
Inspired by this artwork, the hotel’s coffee shop is aptly named Cafe Mangrove. Located just behind the installation, the café offers a sophisticated yet inviting and warm ambiance. Designed as a place where people can enjoy quality coffee while spending time together, it even includes an entertainment television set for added comfort.
Drinks start at just ₱195, with signature lattes priced at ₱380. We recommend trying the café’s matcha, red velvet, and pistachio lattes for a delightful twist on your usual coffee choices. Sweet tooths will love the Cheesecake Salted Caramel—a New York cheesecake topped with caramel sauce, almond crumble, salted caramel ice cream, and sesame tuile—or the Malta Pudding, a milky sponge pudding served with vanilla sauce and vanilla ice cream.
Elevate your evening at Sky Bar
Solaire Resort North offers more than just coffee. The 38-story property boasts several dining options, including the lively Pool Cafe. Perfect for those who enjoy a cafe with alcoholic beverages, the Pool Cafe combines a vibrant atmosphere with scenic views. Tea starts at ₱150, coffee at ₱195, and alcoholic drinks at ₱375. Pair your drinks with delicious snacks like tacos (₱120), nachos (₱290), or the Pritchon—lechon with spring onion, calamansi mayo, hoisin glaze, sriracha, and tortilla—for ₱315. Located near the pool area, the open-air space provides a panoramic view of the city.
For those seeking a luxurious nightlife experience, the hotel’s Sky Bar is a must-visit. Situated on the 38th floor, it offers breathtaking views of city lights. We recommend making an advance reservation and requesting a table in the alfresco area. On clear nights, especially during the northeast monsoon season, you can enjoy the cool breeze and stunning vistas. Drink prices start at ₱230 for local bottled beer.
Relaxation beyond compare
If nightlife isn’t your thing and you’re looking for a relaxing end to your day, indulge in Solaire North’s spa services. While pricier than a regular massage, the experience is unparalleled. Each session includes 30 minutes of access to the hotel’s wellness room. Guests are provided a private locker containing a robe, slippers, and toiletries.
Start with a shower before heading to the wellness room, which features a steam room and sauna. It’s recommended to spend 10 minutes in either to prepare your body. Follow this with the ice fountain, where rubbing ice on your skin—especially your face—helps close your pores.
Before your massage, enjoy a cup of hot lemongrass tea as your feet soak in warm water with rose petals, essential oils, and Epsom salt. The massage itself lasts a minimum of one hour and is so relaxing that many guests fall asleep during the service. Afterward, you’ll receive a hot towel and another cup of tea. Each massage room includes a private shower and bath area equipped with a selection of toiletries tailored to your preferences.
The verdict
After a day of indulgence at Solaire North, you’ll head home feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. This weekend, instead of your usual coffee shop run, why not treat yourself to a more luxurious experience at Solaire Resort North?
