Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) President Ramon “Tats” Suzara said they are looking at making the first trophy stop in Ilocos Norte, the home province of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos before bringing it to Baguio, Pampanga, Cebu, Bacolod, Zamboanga and Cagayan De Oro.

“Para tong torch relay,” said Suzara, adding that the trophy tour would further help promote the world-class tournament particularly to the provinces.

The two-week event draws 32 of the best teams across the world with the Philippines earning a wildcard berth being the host.

Among the countries competing are defending champion Italy, three-time champion Brazil, and former winners United States, Poland, Germany, and Czech Republic, to name a few.

Competition venues will be at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City and the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, with training venues set at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum and Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila, Philsports Arena in Pasig City, and the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.

Meanwhile, Suzara said they have also invited President Marcos and First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos to do the ceremonial serve in the opening ceremony.

The Philippine team will then face Tunisia in the opening game.
