'Squid Game' season 2 maintains No. 1 position on Netflix for third straight week

“Squid Game” season 2 maintained its position as the No. 1 title on Netflix for the third straight week.

Netflix released its official weekly Global Top 10 list for the period Jan. 6 to 12 showing the most watched shows and films on the streaming platform.

On the non-English shows list, “Squid Game” season 2, which premiered on Dec. 26, is still No. 1 for the third straight week, garnering 26.3 million views or 188.3 million hours viewed.

Overall, it is still the most viewed title on Netflix for the week. It premiered with 68 million views followed by 58.2 million views from Dec. 30 to Jan. 5 chart period.

Weekly views of “Squid Game” season 2:

  • Dec. 23 to 29, 2024 - 68 million views (No. 1 in 92 countries and territories)
  • Dec. 30, 2024 to Jan. 5, 2025 - 58.2 million views (No. 1 in 91 countries and territories)
  • Jan. 6 to 12, 2025 - 26.3 million views (No. 1 in 70 countries and territories)

In the latest chart for non-English shows, “Squid Game” season 2 is in the top 10 on Netflix in 93 countries and territories, including No. 1 in 70.

Meanwhile, “Squid Game” season 1 is No. 3 with 8.7 million views, its 26th week in the top 10 non-English shows list.

Lee Jung-jae stars in “Squid Game” season 2 along with Lee Byung-hun, Gong Yoo, Im Si-wan , Kang Ha-neul, Wi Ha-joon, Park Gyu-young, Park Sung-hoon, Lee Jin-wook, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, Lee Seo-hwan, Jo Yu-ri, and Choi Seung-hyun (aka T.O.P).

Also landing in the top 10 non-English shows this week is the Korean drama “When the Phone Rings” at No. 7 with 2.9 million views.

The Korean series “When the Stars Gossip,” starring Lee Min-ho and Gong Hyo-jin, debuted at No. 8 with 2.4 million views.
