The Chery Tiggo Crossovers have recruited three-time Best Middle Blocker Risa Sato for the ongoing Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference, the team announced Wednesday, Jan. 15.
In a statement, the team welcomed the 30-year-old standout following the latter’s departure from the Creamline Cool Smashers two months ago.
“Okoso Risa-san! To our newest addition to our growing family, welcome!” the team’s social media post read.
“Your skills and energy are a game-changer and we can’t wait to have you on the court with us!” it added.
It can be recalled that Sato requested for her release from the Cool Smashers last November following Creamline's historic Grand Slam title.
The 5-foot-9 Fil-Japanese has been competing in the PVL scene since 2016 with BaliPure, before joining Creamline in 2018 until last year. She was also part of the national team that competed in the 2015 Asian Women’s U23 Volleyball Championship that the country hosted, as well as in the senior squad that saw action in the 2015 VTV International Women’s Volleyball Cup, an invitational tournament held in Vietnam.
Sato is expected to suit up in the Crossovers’ match against the Petro Gazz Angels on Tuesday, Jan. 21, where she joins forces with Ara Galang, Aby Maraño, Shaya Adorador and Jasmine Nabor.
The Crossovers currently tote a 4-2 win-loss record.
