The 26-year-old Borromeo finished fifth (178.14) in the men's category, accumulating points from short program (50.13), free skate events (128.01), and 90.59 in technical element to book his spot in the ISU meet next month in Seoul, South Korea.
Slovakian Adam Hagara (236.01), Chinese Zhiming Peng (210.91), and Bulgarian Alex Zlatkov (197.31) bagged the gold, silver, and bronze medals, respectively.
“The news is in! Paolo Borromeo has officially qualified for the ISU Four Continents Championships…,” Philippine Skating Union (PHSU) said on its social media post.
Before plunging into action on Korean soil, Borromeo will join the national team first at the 2025 Asian Winter Games from Feb. 7 to 14 in Harbin, China.
There, he will don the Philippine colors with fellow Filipinos Sofia Frank, Cathryn Limketkai, Isabella Gamez, and Aleksandr Korovin, who recently obtained his Filipino citizenship.
Also hoisting the flag are speed skater Peter Groseclose, snowboarder Adrian Tongco, Alpine skiing stars Francis Ceccarelli and Talullah Prouix, freestyle skiing bet Laetaz Amihan Rabe and the Philippine curling team.
