An 81-year-old man with a history of epilepsy was saved by a medical team after accidentally swallowing his dentures during an epileptic episode in Peru on Monday, Jan. 6.
A surgeon from Sabogal Hospital explained that the patient had experienced pain and breathing difficulties for four days before seeking care at a local hospital in Huacho City last December, believing he had expelled the denture during the seizure.
However, on Dec. 17, 2024, an X-ray revealed that the denture was lodged in his throat.
The man was promptly transferred to Sabogal Hospital, where doctors performed a procedure to remove the denture. He was discharged a few days later.
