The Philippines salvaged a 3-3 draw against a resurgent host Uzbekistan on Monday night, Jan. 13, in the 2025 AFC Women’s Futsal Asian Cup Qualifiers at the Yunusobod Sports Complex in Tashkent.
Judy Connolly saved the day for the Nationals by scoring an equalizing goal off a pass from Katrina Guillou with two minutes left in the match that kept them afloat in the Group C stage.
The draw came days after the PH booters routed Kuwait, 4-1, putting them at second place with four points behind Australia, which remained unbeaten in two games after blanking Kuwait, 5-0, for six points.
Uzbekistan is at third with one point, while Turkmenistan and Kuwait are at the bottom.
The Nationals drew the first blood with a floater from Isabella Flanigan, before the Uzbeks equalized the match courtesy of Nilufar Kudratova.
Guillou gave the PH booters the 2-1 with a goal off a pass from Flanigan, but the pesky Uzbeks were quick to retaliate and put them again at the stalemate.
Lyudmila Karachik gave Uzbekistan the crucial momentum after escaping three defenders to give them a 3-2 lead in the waning minutes before Connolly took the spotlight.
The Nationals next face Turkmenistan on Wednesday night, Jan. 15, in their bid to boost their chances of earning a spot in the Asian Cup.
