Manila launches rent-to-own housing system for city employees

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan of Manila said the local government employees can now avail of the new rent-to-own housing program, changing the previous system where beneficiaries were required to pay indefinitely without owning their homes. 

During the inauguration of the Pedro Gil Residences, the mayor announced that she had instructed the Manila City Council and the Manila Urban Settlements Office (MUSO) to implement this new system, which will allow beneficiaries to own their units after completing payments over a designated period.

The Pedro Gil Residences, the city's first rent-to-own low-cost condos, will offer units to city employees chosen through a public raffle. 

With monthly payments ranging from P2,000 to P3,000, residents will eventually gain ownership of their units.

The 20-story building features 299 residential units, 143 parking slots, commercial spaces, a swimming pool, fitness room, and more. 

Meanwhile, a newly opened public health center was also launched, which will offer free medical services, including lab tests, electrocardiograph, ultrasound, and dental care. 

Congressman Irwin Tieng pledged support for medical equipment, while the center will be managed by the Manila Health Department.

Mayor Lacuna-Pangan emphasized the importance of accessible housing and healthcare, ensuring that these projects contribute to Manila's overall well-being.
