Light rains to persist over parts of the Philippines

Parts of the country will continue to experience scattered rains due to the combined effects of the easterlies and northeast monsoon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Tuesday, Jan. 14.

Cloudy skies, scattered rains, and thunderstorms are expected in Eastern Visayas as the warm winds from the Pacific Ocean, or easterlies, affect the region.

Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon, locally known as “amihan,” will bring cloudy skies and rains to Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Bicol Region, Mimaropa, and Quezon.

PAGASA warned residents affected by the two weather systems to remain alert for possible flash floods or landslides, especially during moderate to heavy rainfall.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country can expect generally fair weather, with the amihan having minimal impact on Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, where partly cloudy to cloudy skies and isolated light rains are forecast.
