The wildfires that have swept through Los Angeles are regarded as one of the most significant environmental disasters in American history, causing widespread devastation to both communities and natural landscapes.

According to the dailymail.co.uk, it reported: “Dozens of celebrities have lost their multi-million-dollar mega-mansions in the apocalyptic Los Angeles fires that have killed 24 people and burned more than 40,000 acres. Some of Hollywood's biggest names have seen their homes razed to the ground. In Pacific Palisades – a hillside area on the coast dotted with celebrity properties – the homes of actors Sir Anthony Hopkins, Billy Crystal, John Goodman, and Anna Faris were destroyed. In Malibu, the roaring infernos reduced dozens of celebrity homes to rubble, including those belonging to Mel GibsonBella Hadid, and Candy Spelling. Firefighters are working round-the-clock to contain the blazes. However, ferocious winds combined with an extensive drought created a 'perfect storm' for the fires, triggering apocalyptic scenes of 120ft flames engulfing multi-million dollar homes.”

I saw a fellow actress, Klaudia Koronel, doing a live feed on Facebook about the unfortunate incident and asking people to pray for her. I was able to contact her via Facebook Messenger for this interview. Klaudia was still shaken up, but she shared: “I decided to retire in the United States last 2010 when I was at the top of my career in show business because I could study and work here. I have an American dream and am very happy now that I work here as a caregiver. There are still fires, but they are slowly dissipating, and most residents have returned to their homes or what is left. Five days ago was very traumatic for me because one of my clients who lives in Eaton, Pasadena house, got burnt. This area is near Pacific Palisades. The winds were so strong, around 70 mph, and it was very dry here, so the fires kept spreading; consider it a blessing that I was with her the day of the fire. The homes behind us were already burning, so I had to get confirmation from my client’s family if I could drive their mother out to a safe location and leave the home, which we did. We had to go back for the cat, and we managed to save the cat as well. It was the scariest thing I have experienced in my entire life: houses burning left and right, horrible traffic with families inside their cars stressed and crying because their homes and valuables were burnt to a crisp. I could see burnt houses on the side with nothing left at all, all appliances and valuables gone, and I could empathize with looking at every family inside their cars, crying and traumatized. We were able to secure my client in a hotel. When her family visited her, I asked if I could leave because I had another client in another area whose place was also compromised by the wildfires. I was very tired already, but I had to force my body to save my clients because this was a life-and-death situation. Luckily, my adrenalin kicked in, and I could also secure my other client.”

I asked Klaudia about the cause of the fires because some conspiracy theories suggest that lasers or arsonists caused the wildfire because of the plans to build a smart city in Pacific Palisades and Malibu. “To be honest, I do not believe in conspiracy theories. I only believe what the firefighters told us. They said it started with a wildfire, but the wind was the culprit that spread it to homes. It was very windy. The fires were so huge that they ate the homes and belongings so fast that the firefighters could not kill the fire in some areas. I am just grateful that I am alive and that I was able to save my clients and their families. I thank my INC (Iglesia ni Cristo) family for praying for me. I was on Facebook five days ago when the chaos was happening so my INC family and the INC ministers could pray for me and the people I care for. I felt their prayers because God was covering and protecting us. It was like I was in hell with the fires left and right. The wind was so polluted with smoke, but we survived unscathed and with undamaged lungs. There is now a death toll of around 24 people. There are still fires here. Please pray for Los Angeles."
