Rain or Shine’s hot streak was good while it lasted but head coach Yeng Guiao lamented the missed chance of further extending it after the tough 93-91 loss to Phoenix.

The fiery mentor believed the team could have put itself into a better position to win the game if not for what he deemed as lapses in decision-making in the end game.

Rain or Shine lost on a last-gasp putback from Ken Tuffin with 0.7 seconds left – a scenario that could have not happened if the Elasto Painters only managed to execute and take advantage of the mismatches they created in the possession prior.

With the game tied at 91-all and with ROS in possession, the Elasto Painters forced a switch from the Fuel Masters that put import Donovan Smith on a smaller and quicker Andrei Caracut and Ken Tuffin being left to defend Rain or Shine import Deon Thompson inside the paint.

Instead of attacking Smith or dumping the ball to Thompson, Caracut went for a trey which went wide right and gave the chance to Phoenix to win it on the other end.

“I'm a little disappointed with our decision making doon sa end game namin. I feel na yung mismatches namin,.. instead of attacking our mismatch which could have been a higher percentage opportunity for us, ang intake namin yung lower percentage na mismatch,” Guiao pointed out.

Guiao, however, is not the one to cry over spilled milk as he wants his wards to pick the lessons from the loss especially with two crucial games are coming up next week.

“I emphasized that to the guys that (next time), we come across another situation like that we have to understand what the higher percentage play is maraming pang mangyayaring ganun sa akin leksyon lang para sa mga bata,” said Guiao.

“Lesson din sa amin ‘to. We will take this game and break it down and learn all the lessons we can learn from it, maybe we can be a little  better on Tuesday and Thursday,” he added.

ROS remained in contention for the top two spots which merits a twice-to-beat advantage, with its 5-2 record but it needs victories over league-leading NorthPort and fellow darkhorse team Converge next week.
