Even before the first month of the new year ends, the Eastern Police District (EPD) has already made significant progress, arresting 41 wanted persons and confiscating illegal drugs worth over P1.6 million as part of its efforts to maintain order and peace across the Metro East cities.
From Jan. 4 to 10, the EPD's intensified campaign against illegal drugs and criminality resulted in the arrest of 41 wanted persons involved in various crimes, including five Top Most Wanted Persons and two Most Wanted Persons.
In its campaign against illegal drugs, the EPD conducted 28 operations, resulting in the arrest of 44 individuals and the confiscation of 178.87 grams of shabu, 71.7 grams of high-grade marijuana (kush), and 30 grams of marijuana, along with other drug paraphernalia, with a total value of P1,609,416.
In addition, the EPD has also intensified its fight against illegal gambling, conducting 22 operations that led to the arrest of 47 individuals and the confiscation of P7,880 in bet money.
It also said that an operation against illegal firearms was also successful, resulting in the confiscation of four firearms and the arrest of five individuals.
“Ngayong taon ay mas pagsusumikapan pa naming na mapabagsak ang kriminalidad sa aking nasasakupan, lalo na ang paglaganap ng iligal na droga at yung mga nagtatagong mga kriminal sa ilalim ng batas. Hindi titigil ang mga Kapulisan na gawin ang aming tungkulin para sa kaayusan at kapayapaan sa ating komunidad (This year, we will work even harder to reduce crime in my area of jurisdiction, especially the spread of illegal drugs and the criminals hiding under the law. The police will not stop performing our duties for the peace and order of our communities),” EPD acting district director Col. Villamor Tuliao said.
Tuliao also urged the public to support the police in the fight against crime and illegal drugs by reporting any suspicious individuals or activities in their area to prevent criminals from continuing their unlawful acts.
