90-year-old actor bags grand prize at KBS Drama Awards; Kim Myung-soo, Park Ji-hoon win

A 90-year-old actor won the grand prize (“daesang”) at the 2024 KBS Drama Awards in South Korea.

The 2024 KBS Drama Awards ceremony, which honored actors and dramas that aired on Korean TV channel KBS, was held on Dec. 31 but was aired on Jan. 11 due to the Jeju Air plane crash on Dec. 29 that killed 179 people.

Actor Lee Soon-jae, 90, won the grand prize for the drama “Dog Knows Everything,” which aired from September to October last year.

Lee Soon-jae became the oldest grand prize winner in the history of the KBS Drama Awards.

The actor, who was born in 1934, said, "As I live long enough, a day like this comes. I've always been preparing for this opportunity someday. I want to tell the viewers who are watching that I owe you a lot and have received a lot of help throughout my life.”

Also winning at the 2024 KBS Drama Awards were actors Kim Myung-soo, Kim Jung-hyun, Kim Yong-gun, the father of actor Ha Jung-woo, and Choi Tae-joon, the husband of actress Park Shin-hye.

“Iron Family” won the most awards with nine, followed by “Beauty and Mr. Romantic” with seven.
