3 weather systems to bring rains across the Philippines

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Sunday, Jan. 12, that cloudy and rainy weather will persist across several parts of the country as three weather systems continue to affect the archipelago.

PAGASA said the shear line, formed by the collision of cold winds of the northeast monsoon (amihan) and warm winds from the Pacific Ocean (easterlies), will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms to Bicol Region, Mimaropa, Eastern Visayas, and Quezon.

The easterlies will also bring cloudy skies, scattered rains, and thunderstorms to Caraga, Davao Region, Saranggani, and South Cotabato.

Cloudy skies with rain due to the amihan will be experienced in Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Aurora.

PAGASA warned areas affected by the three weather systems to remain vigilant against flash floods or landslides during moderate to heavy rainfall.

Generally fair weather will prevail over the rest of the country.

PAGASA said the amihan will have minimal impact on Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, as partly cloudy to cloudy skies and isolated light rains are expected.

The rest of the Visayas and Mindanao will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies.
