CEBU CITY – A 67-year-old real estate broker plunged to her death from the 34th floor of a condominium building here on Friday afternoon, Jan. 10, police said.
Police Major Romeo Caacoy Jr., chief of the Mabolo Police Station, identified the victim as Rosanna Lopez Reynes of Barangay Mabolo here.
Caacoy said initial investigation showed that the victim slipped from a terrace. The victim was found slumped on the ground around 5:30 p.m. with severe injuries.
Jovie Pagobo, a security guard in the building, said he heard a loud thud and saw the woman sprawled on the ground.
Police said that as a real estate broker, the victim was a frequent visitor at the building on Rosales St. because she had a client there.
During her visit Friday, Reynes borrowed a table and a chair. The woman placed the furniture at the terrace. She stood on top of the table while installing something but slid and fell to the ground.
Police said winds were strong and there was a heavy downpour during the incident. The victim may have lost her balance because of the strong winds.
Caacoy said they have secured surveillance camera footage. “In the footage, the woman was alone but we will try to gather more footage,” said Caacoy.
He said that they are not yet discounting the possibility that foul play was involved in the incident.
A relative of the victim who asked not to be named said theories that the woman leaped from the building was impossible as she did not disclose her problems.
