The Iloilo City Police Station-Drug Enforcement Team and the ICPO-Police Station 4 seized 200 grams of suspected shabu valued at P1.36 million on Jan. 9 from two suspected drug pushers in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Bakhaw notorious for illegal drug activities.

Police Col. Kim Legada, chief of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO), prioritized minimizing the distribution of illegal drugs prior to the Dinagyang weekend here where thousands of people from Western Visayas converge.

Police Brig. Gen. Jack Wanky, Police Regional Office-6 chief, cited operating units for their achievement.

“Maintain the intensification of our effort in fighting this illegal drug problem in order that those involved be prevented from their ongoing illegal activities,” Wanky said.

The Dinagyang Festival honors the Santo Niño or Child Jesus.
