Metro Manila and parts of Luzon are likely to experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms this weekend, as the shear line and the northeast monsoon (amihan) continue to affect the country, based on the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) weather outlook for Jan. 11 to 17.
From Saturday, Jan. 11 to Monday, Jan. 13, PAGASA said Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, and Bicol Region, Northern Samar, and Eastern Samar will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the shear line—a weather system where the cold winds from the amihan meet warm winds from the Pacific Ocean (easterlies).
The amihan will also bring cloudy skies with rains over Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), and Aurora, while the rest of Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.
The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
On Tuesday, Jan. 14, Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Central Luzon, Marinduque, and Oriental Mindoro will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms due to shear line.
The amihan will continue to bring cloudy skies and light rains to Cagayan Valley and CAR, while partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains will prevail over Ilocos Region.
The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
On Wednesday, Jan. 15, Cagayan Valley will experience cloudy skies with light rains due to the amihan, while CAR and Ilocos Region will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
From Thursday, Jan. 16 to Friday, Jan. 17, Bicol Region and Quezon will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms due to the shear line.
The amihan will continue to bring cloudy skies with light rains over Cagayan Valley and Aurora, while partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains will prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.
The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
