K-pop girl group Le Sserafim’s Huh Yunjin released her new self-written single, ‘jellyfish,’ on Jan. 10. 

The single builds on Huh Yunjin’s extensive discography of self-written tracks—“Raise your glass,” “I ≠ DOLL,” “love you twice,” and “blessing in disguise”—each a reflection of her personal thoughts and emotions, further solidifying her status as an authentic and ever-evolving artist.

"jellyfish" is an alluring R&B soul track that blends her soothing vocals with the gentle strums of an acoustic guitar. 

The song, inspired by jellyfish drifting through rough waters, reflects the struggles of navigating life’s challenges.

Despite lacking a heart, the jellyfish’s resilience to survive in the harsh sea moved the artist, offering an unexpected sense of comfort and inspiration from its determination to live through difficult circumstances.

Huh Yunjin did not only contribute to the songwriting and composition of the track but added her personal touch to its visual elements. 

The music video for ‘jellyfish’ showcases the works of Korean illustrator mareykrap, along with handwritten lyrics by the artist. 

The lyrics, such as “jellyfish, why don’t you know / how beautiful you are / You're busy breathing, I'll appreciate you in your stead,” deliver a message of comfort to those who are living their lives with the effort and determination to keep moving forward. 

Just as jellyfish provided solace to her, Huh Yunjin hopes the track will offer the same sense of comfort to listeners.

“Projecting this on the reality we live in, I realized that a quiet, diligent life can appear beautiful to others,” said  Huh Yunjin. 

She added, “Just as the jellyfish gave me comfort, there are people whose sole existence can offer solace. What I want to say is that your presence can be a source of comfort to someone else. So even in tough times, let’s keep swimming and appreciate each other’s beauty on the way.”
