BUTUAN CITY – The Police Regional Office-13 said on Thursday that the New Year’s celebration in the Caraga region was generally peaceful.
No major untoward incidents were recorded.
“Our proactive security measures with the unwavering support of Caraganons had ensured that the New Year festivities in Northeastern Mindanao be safe and orderly,” PRO 13-Regional Public Information Office chief Police Major Jennifer S. Ometer said.
The safe and orderly celebration was also due to the close coordination with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), other law enforcement agencies, different line agencies of the government, and local government units, Ometer added.
“Our field units also destroyed several seized illegal firecrackers before Christmas and New Year’s festivities,” Ometer added.
Ometer said PRO-13 officer-in-charge Police Col. Michael F. Lebanan has ordered police to continue maintain continued vigilance as work and classes fully resume next week.
Lebanan thanked the people for helping the police secure the Caraga region during the holiday season.
“Salamat and Happy New Year to all Caragnons,” Lebanan said.
