In a statement, the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) said that ambassadors, together with their spouses, were invited to the inauguration.
“The Palace confirms that the Secretary of State, on behalf of the Joint Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies, invited the Chiefs of Diplomatic Missions, along with their spouses, to represent their respective heads of state and their governments at the principal inaugural events,” the statement read.
“In this case, Ambassador Jose Manuel Romualdez will represent PBBM at the inauguration,” it added.
However, there is no confirmation yet whether President Marcos, who called Trump to congratulate him in winning a second term as US president in November, will visit the United States to meet with the newly elected president in early 2025.
In an earlier chance interview, the President shared that Trump is friends with his mother, former First Lady Imelda Marcos.
Marcos shared that during their phone call, the president-elect even asked about his mom, who, in turn, sent her regards.
Trump won against US Vice President Kamala Harris in November 2024. Previously, he served as president from 2016 to 2020, but lost to US President Joe Biden in November 2020.
