Man killed by firework explosion in Dagupan City

DAGUPAN CITY, Pangasinan -- A 44-year-old man was killed by a firework explosion  in Barangay  Bonuan Gueset here on New Year's Day.

Police identified the victim as  Allan.

Investigation said  that Ballesteros was lighting a firework in front of his house at 12:10 a.m.  when it exploded.

The victim sustained injuries in the head and was taken to the Region 1 Medical Center here where he was declared dead at  3:20 a.m.

Meanwhile, the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office  destroyed 1,381 confiscated illegal firecrackers, including improvised cannons (boga), and 238 mufflers, on Dec. 30, at the PPO compound in Lingayen town.

Police had earlier urged the people in this province to celebrate the New Year safely and avoid using illegal firecrackers.
