Pronounced as “zin,” this headset is designed to create 3D games and movies.
Xyn features 4K OLED displays, video passthrough, and third-party support. Additionally, Sony has revealed the Xyn Motion Studio, a Windows app equipped with motion tracking sensors and motion editing software.
There's also a potential new feature on the horizon that could allow images to be converted into an asset, significantly reducing the time and effort required to create tedious models.
Sony plans to release the Xyn Motion Studio this March. However, there’s no word on pricing yet.
The introduction of this product comes off at an interesting time when Sony has announced they will be working on a Horizon Zero Dawn movie. I wonder if Sony will be using their own Xyn devices and solutions for development.
In other news, Sony and Honda’s joint project for an electric car, has finally made its big appearance. The Afeela 1 Origin and the Afeela 1 Signature, priced at 89,900 USD and 102,900 USD respectively.
As part of the Sony Honda Mobility presentation at CES, a three-year complimentary subscription was announced. This subscription includes Level 2 ADAS, which provides automated systems such as warning drivers of hazards and temporarily controlling the wheel to avoid them. This subscription also includes an ‘immersive entertainment selection,’ which likely Sony Pictures movies and PlayStation content. Additionally, the subscription will feature customizable themes and the Afeela Personal Agent, which I assume is the car’s AI, similar to certain vehicles. Oh, we’re on the cusp of having our own personal KITT -- you know, from Knight Rider.
These vehicles are expected to have a range of about 300 miles and will support Tesla’s SuperCharger network. They will be sold in California and are now available for pre-orders. However, the Signature model won’t roll out until 2026, and the Origin model will follow in 2027. In the Philippines, we’re seeing more EV chargers being installed, so hopefully, by then, we’ll have more EV options to choose from.
