President Marcos remains confident that the military will continue to abide by the Constitution amid the widespread corruption in the government, Malacañang said.
The President has confidence in our soldiers that they will remain steadfast and will follow only what is mandated by the Constitution)," Palace Press Officer and Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said on Tuesday, Sept. 30.
Castro further said that they respect the sentiments of soldiers over the ongoing investigations in the corrupt-ridden infrastructure projects, stressing that everyone, not just the military, are against corruption.
And all of us, not just the military, are against corruption. So we must respect their statements, because not everyone would ever want to see the people’s funds stolen)," Castro said.
The Palace official also said that Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. has affirmed that they will not take part in any kind of disorder.
We have already heard from General Brawner. He said that they will remain steadfast and will not take part in this kind of disorder, and that they will enforce only what is stated in the Constitution)," Castro said.
She made the statement when asked during a Palace briefing whether the Palace has any intelligence report that there are members of the AFP who are withdrawing their support to the President.
