LTO waives penalty for late vehicle registration, renewal of driver's license due to cyclones
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has extended the validity of all motor vehicle registration and driver’s license that are set to expire on Tuesday, Sept. 30, as part of the assistance to those affected by the weather disturbances that hit the country in the past weeks.
LTO Chief, Assistant Secretary Vigor D. Mendoza II said part of the memorandum he issued to all regional directors down to the district offices is also to waive the penalties for late registration until Oct. 3.
“The validity of all motor vehicle registration expiring on 30 September 2025 and driver’s license due for renewal on 30 September 2025 shall be extended and no penalty/ies shall be collected until 03 October 2025,” the memorandum signed by Mendoza read.
“Likewise, the fifteen-day period for the settlement of Traffic Apprehension Cases effective 26 September 2025 shall be extended until 03 October 2025,” it added.
Mendoza said the decision was in compliance with the instruction of President Marcos to extend all the necessary assistance to the victims of the weather disturbances—from the heavy rains brought by southwest monsoon or habagat to typhoon “Nando”.
He said the validity extension was also brought by the cancellation of government works in Metro Manila and other affected areas as part of the safety measures due to the cyclones that hit the country.
