Cavite 4th district Rep. Francisco "Kiko" Barzaga was an avid Bongbong Marcos supporter during the 2022 election season. Not anymore.
The eccentric Barzaga, who refers ro himself as "congressmeow", is now calling for the impeachment of President Marcos.
A publication material posted on Barzaga's Facebook on Tuesday, Sept. 30 read: "Congressman Kiko Barzaga is calling for the impeachment of President Marcos due to his inability to bring justice for the hundreds of billions stolen from the DPWH Flood Control Funds."
The neophyte congressman from Dasmariñas City can put his money where his mouth is by filing the impeachment complaint himself, but this remains to be seen.
Barzaga, 27, has said in the past that his at-times outrageous social media posts are his way of gauging the public's interests on a given topic.
As of this posting, Barzaga's "PhilippinesVsMarcos" post has garnered over 64,000 reactions and over 10,500 shares.
In his over three years as Chief Executive, nobody has ever filed an impeachment rap against President Marcos.
In recent weeks, Barzaga has packaged himself as an anti-corruption crusader of sorts; however, his unparliamentary actions--which include vlogging in plenary and taunting--have reportedly caught the ire of his older, more seasoned House colleagues.
AFP delisting
In a separate Facebook post Tuesday, Barzaga identified Marcos as the person behind the recommendation to delist him from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) reserve force.
"Marcos can remove me from the Philippine Reserve Forces, but he will never remove my desire to fight for the Filipino People! #Philippines VsMarcos #PeoplePower," he wrote.
The Manila Bulletin reported that Barzaga, as per Philippine Army spokesperson Col. Louie Dema-ala, was recommended for delisting due to “grave offense of misconduct.”
“He is recommended for delisting after a thorough investigation. The recommendation is forwarded through the proper channel for final action,” Dema-ala said.
