The supposed match between Filipina ace Alex Eala and Polish player Katarzyna Kawa was suspended due to heavy rain in the Suzhou WTA 125 tournament in China on Tuesday, Sept. 30.
Battling for the second time in their careers, the 20-year-old Eala was tied 2-2 with Kawa in the first set with the former holding a 15-0 lead in the fifth game.
But persistent rain forced the organizers to suspend the match with the new schedule yet to be announced as of posting time.
Eala, seeded No. 4, tries to carry the momentum and eventually earn her chance at striking back against Kawa, who beat her with a 2-6, 6-4, 6-0 come-from-behind win in the second round of the W60 Templeton exactly three years ago
Last weekend, the current world No. 58 was denied of capturing her second WTA 125 crown after absorbing a 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 semifinal loss to New Zealand’s Lulu Sun in the Jingshan Tennis Open.
Sun is also competing in Suzhou where she is set to face No. 1 seed Iva Jovic of the US.
