Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) leader Apollo Quiboloy was rushed to the hospital after experiencing difficulty in breathing, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology confirmed on Tuesday, Sept 30.
In a report, BJMP spokesperson Supt. Jayrex Bustinera said the KOJC founder was brought to a public hospital where he was later diagnosed with “Community Acquired Pneumonia (Moderate Risk).”
Quiboloy, it was recalled, was ordered detained at the Pasig City Jail detainee.
Bustinera noted that the Pasig City Regional Trial Court Branch 159 in Pasig City was immediately informed about the detainee’s condition.
On Sept. 15, Bustinera said that the Pasig City court issued an order authorizing Quiboloy’s hospitalization.
“As of 30 Sept., he is stable and recovering in a public hospital, in line with BJMP policies on medical care for [persons deprived of liberty],” Bustinera said.
On Jan. 23, it was also reported that Quiboloy was brought to the hospital due to pneumonia and was transferred back to Pasig City Jail on Feb. 12 when his condition improved.
Quiboloy is currently facing a non-bailable qualified human trafficking charge under Section 4(a) of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003, as amended, before the Pasig court.
The Davao City-based religious leader is also facing charges under Section 5(b) and Section 10(a) of the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act.
