Biicol-based congressmen have pledged over P1 million as assistance to the typhoon-battered province of Masbate.
In a Facebook post Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 30, Albay 3rd district Rep. Raymond Adrian Salceda bared that Bicol congressmen have "raise[d] P1.4 million to help Masbate".
Rep. Salceda's predecessor, former congressman Joey Salceda, subsequently shared to House reporters a list of solons and their corresponding cash pledges. The list accounted for at least P1.1 million.
Pledging P100,000 each as of 7:22 p.m. Monday night were Reps. Salceda, Wowo Fortes, Leo Rodriguez, Caloy Loria, Krisel Lagman, Alfredo Garbin Jr., Jose Teves Jr., Bernadette Escudero, Josefina Tallado, Arnie Fuentebella, and Nelson Legacion.
There are 18 Bicol solons in all, in terms of district congressmen.
Masbate, one of the six provinces that comprise Bicol, was recently placed under a state of calamity on the heels of the devastation caused by Severe Tropical Storm “Opong” (international name: Bualoi).
