Over 300 academics, practitioners, and community partners will gather at De La Salle University (DLSU), Manila, from Oct. 8 to 10 for the 3rd National Conference of the Philippine Academic Society for Climate and Disaster Resilience (PASCDR) to push local action on climate change and disaster risk reduction.
With the theme “Localizing Science-Based and Creative Innovations for Climate Change Action and Disaster Risk Reduction through Partnership and Collaboration,” organizers said the three-day event will focus on scaling science-based solutions and community-driven innovations.
“The conference aims to strengthen the national dialogue on climate action and disaster resilience by sharing innovations, drawing lessons from partnerships, and setting directions for safer schools, institutions, and communities,” PASCDR said in a statement.
Founded in 2019, PASCDR has emerged as a leading academic body for climate change and disaster resilience.
The group said this year’s gathering will “reflect on past progress and apply key lessons toward PASCDR’s vision of sustainable and resilient communities across the Philippines.”
Scholars and representatives from the natural sciences, engineering, technology, economics, social sciences, arts, and civil society are expected to showcase innovations, exchange insights, and explore practical solutions for climate resilience.
The conference also forms part of DLSU’s 50th Jubilee celebration, underscoring its five decades of commitment to education, service, and nation-building.
PASCDR partners include the Department of Science and Technology–Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOST-PCAARRD), Trinity University of Asia, Zuellig Family Foundation, and Ruel B.
