Police identified the suspect as “Eladio,” a resident of Barangay Commonwealth, who was involved in a collision along Republic Avenue near Juan Ortega Street at around 8:30 p.m.
The stolen motorcycle crashed into another motorcycle traveling from the opposite direction, injuring the rider and his passenger.
Both victims were rushed to Rosario Maclang Bautista General Hospital for treatment.
Authorities discovered that the suspect’s motorcycle had been reported stolen earlier that day.
The colleague of the motorcycle owner recognized the motorcycle parked in front of Traffic Sector 5 after the crash and confirmed it through a social media post made hours after the theft.
Operatives from the Batasan Police Station and the District Traffic Enforcement Unit launched a follow-up operation that led to the suspect’s arrest.
Records also showed that he had been previously charged with malicious mischief in 2018.
The suspect now faces a complaint for violation of the New Anti-Carnapping Act (Republic Act 10883), filed before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
