Las Piñas gov't excels in fisheries and marine protection

Las Piñas City Mayor April Aguilar announced that the city was recognized by the Fisheries Compliance Audit (FishCA) national validation as the only local government unit in the National Capital Region (NCR) to qualify for the national-level assessment, citing its continued excellence in fisheries and marine protection.
She expressed her gratitude to the validation team, saying it is both an honor and a privilege for the city to be part of the prestigious national assessment.
She also shared her confidence and hope that Las Piñas will bring home the award.
City Administrator Reynaldo C. Balagulan, during the visit of the FishCA validation team, highlighted the collective efforts of the city government in keeping environmental stewardship and fisheries management a priority despite the challenges of urban growth.
Balagulan emphasized that the achievement reflects the teamwork of the City Agriculture Office, City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), City Planning and Development Office (CPDO), fisherfolk, and community partners.
He noted that the activities during the validation team's included an on-site visit at Bernabe Fishport, a consultation with the Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council (FARMC) members, and a table assessment with the presentation of FishCA implementation in Las Piñas City, facilitated by Dr. August Michael B. Basangan, city Veterinarian and officer-in-charge of City Agriculture Office.
