LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte – A pack of suspected floating shabu was discovered in the sea of Barangay Masintoc, Paoay, this province, on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 24.
Police Brig. Gen. Dindo R. Reyes, Police Regional Office-1 (Ilocos) chief, said a 37-year-old resident found the contraband in a plastic bag with foreign markings. It weighed one kilo and valued at P6 million.
Reyes said this has markings similar to those recovered in Ilocos shorelines months before.
He ordered all police units near coastal areas in the region to conduct massive search and clearing operations for the recovery of remaining items.
“Our top priority is the safety of the local populace from illegal drugs. Our operatives through our 'Bantay-Dagat' program and our continuing coordination with the fishermen will boost our campaign against the entry of illegal drugs in our coastal areas in the Ilocos,” said Reyes.
