CORONICA (Glazyl Masculino)
The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) is stepping up its intelligence gathering and operations against illegal drugs to ensure public safety during the MassKara Festival next month.
Police Col. Joeresty Coronica, Bacolod police director, noted a recent spike in drug prices, suggesting a drop in supply and an indication that their ongoing efforts are making an impact.
“We cannot completely eradicate illegal drugs, but we are doing everything we can to address the problem and stop it from worsening,” Coronica said.
He said that total eradication remains a challenge as the drug trade continues to serve as a livelihood for many drug personalities.
Coronica said they remain focused on reducing supply and reduce their harmful effects on the community.
From Sept. 15 to 21, the BCPO conducted 12 anti-drug operations, where P1.5 million worth of suspected shabu and P75,000 worth of marijuana were seized. Thirteen suspected drug pushers were arrested.
