Tourism-related water and land activities in several upland villages in Tanay, Rizal remain suspended as part of the municipal government's safety measures during inclement weather.
The office of Mayor Rex Manuel Tanjuatco said water-related activities and other tourism ventures involving river crossing remain suspended upon the recommendation of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.
The upland areas covered by the suspension include: Cayabu, Cuyambay, Daraitan, Laiban, Madilay-Dilay, Mamuyao, San Andres, Sta. Ines, Sto. Niño, and Tinucan.
During normal conditions, rivers in these upland areas are popular among local and foreign tourists for river trekking and all-terrain vehicle (ATV) riding.
While water-related activities remain suspended until further notice, hiking and camping in the some areas are now allowed, including Cayabu, Cuyambay, Laiban, Madilay-Dilay, San Andres, Sta. Ines, and Sto. Niño.
For Barangays Daraitan and Mamuyao, the Tanay Tourism Office said as of 1 p.m. on Sept. 27, the weather remained unfavorable for hiking, camping, and especially water activities.
Although camping is now allowed in Barangay Tinucan, its tourism areas are still not suitable for hiking and water-related activities as of this posting, according to the town government’s tourism office.
