CEBU CITY – A father and son were found dead after they went missing in Tuburan town, Cebu province at the height of severe tropical storm ‘’Opong’’ on Friday morning, Sept. 26.
Marcelino Suelto, 69, and his 49-year-old son Joselito, both fishermen, were found in separate places in Tuburan.
Police said the father and son, residents of Barangay Bagasawe, Tuburan, went fishing at 5 a.m. on Friday despite the stormy weather.
When the two men failed to go home, their relatives reported to authorities for help.
A search and rescue operation was launched. The search was temporarily stopped due to bad weather.
At the resumption of the search, personnel of Bantay Dagat first found the body of Marcelino at 6:47 a.m. on Saturday.
Joselito’s body was found floating in the sea of Barangay 6 at 7:18 a.m., said Coast Guard Substation Tuburan Commander Rose Marie Balunga.
