The Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Saturday, Sept. 27, directed all regional directors to submit reports on the effects of Typhoon “Opong" on offices and personnel to ensure timely assistance and full restoration of operations.
LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Vigor D. Mendoza II said the reports will also cover the condition of employees’ families to provide support where needed.
The impact of Typhoon Opong is severe, especially in Bicol, Visayas, and some parts of southern Luzon. We want to determine the extent of damage to our offices in the affected areas so we can take swift action to continue serving our fellow Filipinos),”Mendoza said.
Typhoon Opong forced the evacuation of more than 380,000 residents, with Masbate identified as the hardest-hit province.
Parts of Region 8, Region 4-A, and Region 4-B also sustained severe damage.
“We in the LTO are family. We in the LTO are family. We must be the first to unite and respond to all our colleagues in the LTO affected by this typhoon),” Mendoza emphasized.
He assured that assistance will be extended to all affected staff and their families.
