A 42-year-old suspected gun-for-hire, previously jailed for murder, was arrested in Malabon, following an intelligence-driven follow-up operation by the Manila Police District (MPD).
In a report submitted to MPD Director Gen. Arnold Abad, the suspect was identified by his alias “Jablin,” a resident of Dagat-Dagatan, Caloocan City.
Police allege that Jablin was the triggerman in the killing of a businessman at the corner of Pacheco and N. Zamora Streets in Tondo, Manila.
CCTV footage captured two men on a motorcycle tailing the victim.
When the businessman reached the intersection, the back rider—believed to be Jablin—shot him in the head at close range, killing him instantly.
The assailants fled the scene on their motorcycle, weaving through several streets in Tondo to evade authorities.
Witnesses corroborated the incident, identifying the suspects as motorcycle riders.
A follow-up operation, led by Lt. Col. De Leon, was promptly launched.
Investigators meticulously reviewed CCTV footage from the crime scene and potential escape routes.
On the fourth day of surveillance, a confidential informant identified the gunman as Jablin and named his motorcycle driver-accomplice.
Intelligence later indicated that Jablin had been spotted at a fast-food restaurant in Malabon, reportedly celebrating his child’s birthday.
Acting on this information, MPD personnel coordinated with the Malabon City Police Station, cordoned off the area, and arrested Jablin without incident.
His alleged accomplice, believed to have direct contact with the mastermind behind the killing, remains at large.
A background check revealed that Jablin had served time for a 2007 murder case and was released in 2024.
He is currently detained at the MPD headquarters while a manhunt continues for his accomplice.
