68-year-old man found dead as 'Opong' lashes Biliran

TACLOBAN CITY — A 68-year-old man was found dead in a farm in Sitio Borin, Villa Vicenta, Caibiran, Biliran, Friday.
The body of Gogoy was discovered following the passage of severe tropical storm “Opong.”
A resident discovered the body while searching for his carabao.
It was reported to the Caibiran Municipal Police Station (MPS) who were conducting a road clearing operation along with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
Investigation revealed that the victim was advised by the barangay captain to evacuate his residence under a bridge. However, he reportedly refused to leave.
A post-mortem examination was conducted on-site by the Municipal Health Officer (MHO). 
Examination indicated that the cause of death was asphyxia due to drowning, resulting from the flash flood caused by Opong.
