PAL launches direct Cebu-Guam flights starting Dec. 16
Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) is expanding the international reach of its Cebu network, with the launch of direct flights to Guam beginning Dec. 16, capturing the holiday demand of one of the biggest Filipino diasporas in the world.
In a statement on Friday, Sept. 26, the Lucio Tan-led airline announced that it will utilize the newly retrofitted Airbus A321ceo aircraft to operate the Cebu-Guam route thrice weekly.
Flights from Cebu to Guam depart every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 9:40 p.m., arriving at 3:25 a.m. the following day.
Return flights from Guam to Cebu are scheduled every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, departing at 5:15 am local time and arriving at 6:50 am.
The Cebu-Guam flight schedule will be the only direct link between the two destinations, complementing PAL’s daily Manila–Guam service.
PAL President Richard Nuttall said the new flight affirms PAL’s commitment to support the growing demand for convenient travel between the Philippines and the American territory of Guam.
“It reflects our commitment to growing our network and supporting economic and tourism flows between the Philippines and Guam,” said Nuttall.
Guam is home to a large Filipino community, accounting for nearly 30 percent of its 179,000 residents.
PAL first landed in Guam on July 31, 1946, during its pioneering DC-4 trans-Pacific service, making it Asia’s first airline to serve the United States (US) mainland.
The carrier anticipates the launch of Cebu-Guam flights to expand opportunities in business, tourism, and cultural exchange, while reaffirming its historic ties to the island.
Nuttall said flights to Guam also seek to strengthen Cebu’s role as an international gateway for both business and leisure travelers.
From Cebu, PAL flies to Ho Chi Minh, Incheon, Narita, and Osaka.
For domestic destinations, the carrier offers flights to Manila, Siargao, Bacolod, Caticlan, Iloilo, Puerto Princesa, Davao, Cagayan de Oro, Butuan, and Busuanga.
PAL introduced this week the first of 18 Airbus A321ceo aircraft that will undergo a total overhaul to meet the growing demand for air travel.
The aircraft, which will soon fly to Guam, features a total of 194 seats, comprising 12 in business class and 182 in economy.
PAL operates a global network of non-stop flights out of hubs in Manila, Cebu, Clark, and Davao to 31 domestic and 37 international destinations spanning Asia, North America, Australia, and the Middle East
