ILOILO CITY – Severe tropical storm “Opong” battered the majority of Antique province on Friday.
The Antique Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (Antique PDRRMO) has yet to release a detailed report, but widespread flooding, landslides, and mudslides were reported.
Vehicles, including a passenger bus enroute to Aklan province, were stuck on the national highway in Patnongon town following a mudslide. A mudslide was also recorded in Valderrama town.
As of 3 p.m. Friday, the Department of Public Works and Highways-Antique reported that Quibanan-Bacalan Bridge in Sebaste and the Batonan Norte Bridge in Culasi are impassable due to damages.

Parts of Sebaste, Culasi, Sibalom, Caluya, Barbaza, Anini-y, Tobias Fornier, Laua-an, and the capital town of San Jose de Buenavista were also flooded.
Thousands of people have been evacuated and staying in evacuation centers.
The administration of Gov. Paolo Javier is coordinating with various government agencies for quick response.
