'Opong' makes landfall in Eastern Samar, may hit Sorsogon or Masbate next — PAGASA

Typhoon Opong (international name: Bualoi) made its first landfall over San Policarpo, Eastern Samar at 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 25, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Friday, Sept. 26.
PAGASA said the typhoon may make a second landfall over either Sorsogon or Masbate in the next few hours before crossing Bicol Region, southern portion of Calabarzon, and northern Mimaropa.
It also said Opong may emerge over the West Philippine Sea by early Saturday, Sept. 27, where it may reintensify before eventually leaving the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
Signal No. 4, the second-highest tropical cyclone warning, was hoisted over Northern Samar, northern and central portions of Eastern Samar and Samar, Sorsogon, and eastern part of Masbate, including Ticao Island.
At the time of landfall, Opong had maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 165 kph.
