PAGASA
Severe Tropical Storm Opong (international name: Bualoi) moved over the Mindoro Strait on Friday afternoon, Sept. 26, after leaving the Philippine landmass, and may reintensify into a typhoon before exiting the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Saturday, Sept. 27, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.
Opong first struck San Policarpo, Eastern Samar, at 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 25. It then made successive landfalls in Palanas, Masbate at 4 a.m. on Friday; Milagros, Masbate at 5:30 a.m.; San Fernando, Romblon at 8:10 a.m.; Alcantara, Romblon at 9:20 a.m.; and Mansalay, Oriental Mindoro at 11:30 a.m.

It was moving west-northwestward at 35 kph.
Opong is expected to move over the West Philippine Sea Friday evening, where it may regain typhoon strength.
With the storm now moving away, PAGASA lifted wind signals in some provinces, leaving fewer areas under tropical cyclone warnings.

PAGASA warned that even as Opong nears its departure from PAR, its outer rainbands and the enhanced southwest monsoon (habagat) could still bring rains and gusty conditions over parts of Luzon and Visayas in the next few hours.
The storm may bring 100 to 200 millimeters (mm) of rain (heavy to intense) over Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Romblon, Palawan, and Antique from Friday afternoon until Saturday afternoon.
Moderate to heavy rainfall (50 to 100 mm) may persist in Metro Manila, Rizal, Bataan, Cavite, Aurora, Isabela, Marinduque, Quezon, Laguna, Batangas, and Aklan.
