The city government of Las Piñas is on full alert following the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration's (PAGASA) announcement placing Metro Manila under Signal No. 2 due to Typhoon Opong.
A preparedness meeting was held on Sept. 26, led by Mayor April Aguilar and attended by all department heads and key agencies, to ensure coordinated disaster response.
The session was spearheaded by the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) under Alejandro Dela Merced.
Present at the meeting were City Administrator Reynaldo Balagulan, City Engineer Mike Aguilar, CENRO Head Engineer Cezar Perillo, CSWDO Head Lowefe Romulo, City Health Officer Dra. Julie Gonzalez, Councilor Robert Cristobal, as well as representatives from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Aguilar ordered the doubling of personnel deployed on the ground for monitoring, search and rescue, debris clearing, evacuation management, relief distribution, and medical operations.
She assured residents that the city government is fully prepared and that support and assistance will be available throughout the typhoon’s impact.
